Antique Gas Station Brass Grease Gun Hand Pump C 1910Probably dating to about 1900 to 1910. For your consideration i have a splendid example fo a very large, solid brass grease gun from the early automotive period. This grease gun is in exceptional condition and rarely is any brass grease gun found to be free from dents and scratches as this one is. Note the square retaining nut holding two leather cup washers in place, thsi is a clear indication that this gun is from the earliest period of the automotive industry. Later grease guns used hex nuts and rubber washers. The size might also suggest that htis gun was most likely used in the service department of a dealership or perhaps a gas station. The gun measures 16 inches long with the threaded rod in, almost 24 inches with the handle out and the brass cylinder by itself measures 9 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. I've had this gun a few years now and have never polished it and it has a great patina to it. There is one small spot of tape residue on the cylinder that will easily polish off the next time this gun is polished. The iron handle is marked with the letter e and the black paint is 100% original. |
